Orthotics Royston Park
What are orthotics?
Orthotics are specially designed devices that provide support, cushioning, and alignment to the feet, ankles, and lower legs. They are frequently used to alleviate foot, ankle, and lower leg pain and to correct structural abnormalities like flat feet or high arches. Orthotics can also improve balance and stability, making them an excellent preventative or treatment option for injuries.
Orthotics come in a variety of types, from off-the-shelf inserts to custom-made devices that are tailored to meet an individual’s unique needs. Orthotics are made from a range of materials, such as foam, plastic, and metal, and can be worn in shoes or as a separate device. A podiatrist typically prescribes them as an effective treatment option for a range of conditions, such as plantar fasciitis, shin splints, and Achilles tendonitis.

How Do Orthotics Help?
Orthotic devices have the potential to enhance your quality of life, be it by alleviating pain or preventing future problems. Research studies have found that 85% of patients who undergo orthotic therapy for related injuries report an improvement or complete resolution of pain.
If you’re a resident of Royston Park or nearby areas, Adelaide Podiatry Centres offer custom orthotic assessment and prescription services to help you improve your foot health.
Individual Orthotic Assessment and Design
Adelaide Podiatry Centre offers singular arch supports, meticulously designed to suit your individual feet using the latest technology. Our orthotic process and design guarantees you receive arch supports that offer comfort and support.
The Benefits of Custom Orthotics
Custom orthotics are specially designed to fit the unique shape and needs of an individual’s feet, providing a more personalised and effective solution for foot, ankle, and lower leg problems. By taking precise measurements and scans of an individual’s feet, a custom orthotic can provide better support, cushioning, and alignment, which can help alleviate pain and improve mobility.
Custom orthotics are designed to provide a tailored solution to specific foot and lower leg problems, such as plantar fasciitis, flat feet, or arthritis. By taking accurate measurements and scans of an individual’s feet, custom orthotics can help distribute pressure more evenly across the foot, reduce the risk of further injury, and improve overall foot function.
Types of Orthotics
We offer a range of different types of orthotics at our podiatry clinics including:
Standard Half Length Orthotics
Half-length orthotics have a top cover that stops at the end of the orthotic shell – the main component that provides support for your feet. These orthotics require less room in the toe box of footwear, providing greater flexibility and ease in wearing them with different shoe styles.
Sporthotics
Orthotics made for sports can be designed for comfortable walking or customised for particular sports and activities. Sports orthotics are typically crafted from softer materials to prevent blistering and feature support modifications that are tailored to the sport and footwear.
Slimthotics
Orthotics designed for slimline or dress shoes are available and can be tailored to specific shoe types such as sandals, football boots, and cycling shoes. Thanks to our digital manufacturing process, we can size them to the nearest millimetre for the perfect fit.
Courthotics
Courthotics are ultra slim orthotics for shoes where regular sized orthotics are impractical or impossible. This style of orthotic has an adhesive base and can be fit into practically any shoe for that extra support. They are recommended for heels and open shoes.

What Conditions Can Dry Orthotics Help With?
Conditions in which orthotics can help include:
The Orthotic Fitting Process
To ensure that your custom-made orthotics are the perfect size and shape for your feet, our podiatrists perform a detailed analysis. Our orthotic fitting and design process covers several assessments to determine your unique requirements and create a precise and accurate pair of orthotics for you.
Biomechanical Examination
To ensure that the orthotic prescription caters to your body type, feet, and requirements, your practitioner will conduct a biomechanical assessment of your hips, knees, ankles, and feet. It is crucial to assess each person individually as every individual is unique.
Computerised Gait Analysis
During your appointment, your podiatrist will perform a computerised gait analysis from head to toe. This analysis will allow them to review the video footage and explain how your walking pattern affects your body.
3D Foot Scan
Following the assessment, a 3D laser precision scan of your feet is conducted to ensure the orthotics have the best fit for you. Accurate measurements of your entire foot are taken to cater to the variations in foot shapes.
3D CadCam Orthotic Design
To custom-design your orthotics, the podiatrist’s assessment, gait analysis, and 3D laser scan are combined using the latest CAD cam software. 3D laser scan files are uploaded to a computer, where the orthotic’s shape is matched to your feet using highly advanced and accurate software.
Orthotic Manufacture
Your custom orthotics are then manufactured by using cutting edge Australian technology and direct milled from various rigid or soft materials. They are designed to fit and colour coordinate your shoes.
Orthotic Fitting
Your fitting appointment is an opportunity to double-check your orthotics’ fit. We will fit them into your shoes and ensure your comfort and satisfaction before you leave. Our onsite laboratory means that there is no need for you to come back for adjustments to your orthotics. We will provide you with instructions to make the transition to the orthotics smoother, as it may take some time to adjust.
Our Guarantee
Customer satisfaction is our top priority at Adelaide Podiatry Centres, and we guarantee the quality of our orthotics. If you are not completely satisfied, we have an in-house laboratory to make any necessary adjustments.
