Advanced Technology Techniques
What are Orthotics?
Orthotics are custom-made devices, specifically created to provide support, cushioning, and alignment to the feet, ankles, and lower legs. They are commonly used to alleviate foot, ankle, and lower leg pain, as well as to correct structural abnormalities such as flat feet or high arches. Additionally, orthotics can enhance balance and stability, making them an excellent resource in both preventing and treating injuries.
Orthotics come in a variety of forms, ranging from off-the-shelf inserts to custom-made devices that are specifically designed to meet an individual’s unique requirements. They can be made from a variety of materials, such as foam, plastic, and metal, and can be worn either inside shoes or as a separate device. Podiatrists frequently recommend orthotics as a highly effective treatment option for a range of conditions, including plantar fasciitis, shin splints, and achilles tendonitis.
How Do Orthotics Help?
Orthotic devices can greatly enhance your standard of living whether it be a solution to pain or the prevention of future issues.

The Benefits of Custom Orthotics
Custom orthotics are specifically crafted to fit the unique shape and needs of an individual’s feet, offering a personalised and efficient solution to foot, ankle, and lower leg issues. By taking accurate measurements and scans, these tailored devices provide superior support, cushioning, and alignment. This precision and personalisation can lead to significant pain relief and improved mobility.
Furthermore, custom orthotics can be designed to address specific conditions or injuries, such as plantar fasciitis, flat feet, or arthritis. They work by distributing pressure more evenly across the foot, thereby reducing the risk of further injury and enhancing overall foot function. More durable and longer-lasting than off-the-shelf inserts, custom orthotics present a cost-effective option in the long run. Ultimately, these tailored solutions can significantly improve comfort, mobility, and quality of life.
Standard Half Length Orthotics
Half length orthotics where the top cover stops at the end of the orthotic shell – the main part that provides support for your feet. Half length orthotics require less room in the toe box of footwear, allowing flexibility and ease in wearing your orthotics across a range of shoe styles.
Orthotics made specifically for comfortable walking or tailored to a particular sport or activity. Sports orthotics are generaly made softer to prevent blistering, and support-modified dependent on the sport and footwear.
Slim line or dress orthotics are made for more specific shoe types, such as sandals, football boots and cycling shoes, where other styles of orthotics just won’t fit. Due to the fact the orthotics are made digitally we can size them to any width to the nearest millimeter.
Ultra slim orthotics for shoes where regular sized orthotics are impractical or impossible. This style of orthotic has an adhesive base and can be fit into practically any shoe for that extra support. They are recommended for heels and open shoes.
The Orthotic Fitting Process
To ensure your custom made orthotics are the perfect fit, size and shape for your feet, our podiatrists perform a detailed analysis. Our orthotic fitting and design process covers a number of assessments to determine your individual requirements and create a precise and accurate pair of orthotics for you.
To ensure that your orthotics cater precisely to your specific body type, needs, and feet, your practitioner will conduct a comprehensive biomechanical assessment of your hips, knees, ankles, and feet. This personalised assessment is crucial, as each person is unique, necessitating an individualised approach for the best outcome.
Computerised Gait Analysis
During your appointment, your podiatrist will perform a computerised gait analysis from head to toe. This comprehensive analysis allows your podiatrist to review the video footage and clearly explain how your specific walking pattern impacts your body, further informing the orthotics design.
3D Foot Scan
To ensure the orthotics provide the best fit and results for you, a customised, personal assessment of your feet is conducted. This assessment includes a 3D laser precision scan of your feet, which takes accurate measurements of your entire foot, accounting for variations in foot shapes. This meticulous process guarantees that the orthotics are tailored to your specific needs.
3D CadCam Orthotic Design
In order to craft your unique orthotics, a combination of the podiatrist’s assessment, gait analysis, and the 3D laser scan are utilised. This process incorporates the latest CAD-CAM software to ensure the utmost precision. The 3D laser scan files are uploaded to a computer, where the orthotic’s shape is matched to your feet using highly sophisticated and accurate software. This technology enables the design of orthotics in various shapes and materials, truly customised to your needs.
Once the design process is completed, your custom orthotics are manufactured using cutting-edge Australian technology. They are directly milled from a variety of either rigid or soft materials and are meticulously tailored to fit and colour-coordinate with your shoes. Check out our range of orthotics.
